The problem we're solving

When an appliance breaks, most homeowners are stuck between two bad options: overpay for a repair that might not last, or replace something that still had years of life left in it.

Technicians have a conflict of interest. Retailers have a conflict of interest. Even Google gives you a mess of forum posts and outdated advice.

FixScore exists to be the neutral third opinion. We don't sell repairs. We don't sell appliances. We just do the math — out loud — so you can decide.

Our methodology

FixScore is built on decision principles used by home inspectors, property managers, and appliance technicians for decades:

• The 50% rule: If repair cost exceeds 50% of replacement cost, lean toward replacement.
• The 50% life rule: If the appliance is past 50% of its expected lifespan and needs a major repair, lean toward replacement.
• Multi-symptom penalty: Multiple concurrent issues usually indicate systemic failure, not a one-off part.
• Warranty offset: Active service plans meaningfully reduce the risk of repair.

We combine these into a weighted composite score and show you every factor — so you can see exactly why we're recommending what we're recommending.

What we're not

FixScore is not a substitute for a licensed technician's in-person assessment. We're a starting point — a way to walk into a conversation with a repair company already knowing whether their quote makes sense.
